Your love is intoxicating…
Each touch, each kiss, each look.
I drink you in - not wanting down off this high
It's our world…everyone disappears but us
Clear sunny skies fill even the darkest days
Smiles, laughter and gayness fill every hour
Support, caring and acceptance fill each moment
Our world is a place of beauty
Where birds praise us in chorus
And time offers to stand still.
We walk freely with no judgement or pretense
It's a place no one can visit
It stays hidden when we're apart
Our world exists within you and me
It's the place where we're free…to just be

This is not intended to be a poem so it shouldn't be read that way. It's just an open letter to a friend that means a lot to me that I felt the need to put it in writing...or at least try to...though I haven't shared with them yet.

I didn't mean to, that I know for sure
What I thought I'd thought-out was oversight
Blinded by youth and comparisons of the unknown
What did I know? Then I'd say I thought it all
Now I know that I knew simply nothing at all
I left you all alone…. but I didn't mean to...

I'm the one you really want, but you just can't see it
I tried and tried to make you understand - won't believe it
It's a shame...
You missing out on a good thing,
It's a shame...
You can't see a damn thing.
What you so scared of me for?
I'm just a woman
Maybe I got it all together like you think maybe I do!
'Cause yo I'm fresh and cool!
I can fend on my own, I'm magnificent
I'm a Queen on my throne, I'm magnificent
I'm the magnificent (Say what? Say what?)
I'm the magnificent

My immature maturity.
My clarity in confusion.
I'm left blinded by both the Wiseman and the Flasher.

I feel like this has been a consistent topic of discussion. Can exes really be just friends? I for one have always taken the stand of YES (depending on how it ended)…if things ended with mutual respect for one another then why not?! After all you don’t just stop caring about a person you once loved because it didn’t work out romantically for the long haul right?
I know a lot of people would disagree with that all together and state that once you’ve had a romantic relationship then there is nothing to be had past that - not friends, casual acquaintances – nada. I get it, I do, I get that is a difficult thing to do but I don’t believe that it just simply can’t be done.

I certainly don't want this post to come off as bashing (male or female), as that is not it's intention. However today I was discussing a few topics of irritation with male friends I am left with these new notions...
In the words of Ella Wheeler Wilcox:
"It is a common fate - a woman's lot - to waste on one the riches of her soul,
Who takes the wealth she gives him, but cannot
Repay the interest, and much less the whole.
...For if I seemed to love you less you would,
Manlike, I have no doubt, love me the more."
From the Poem - The Common Lot
Now as that was written in the late 1800s, it just shows us that things really haven't changed.
We are still living in a time when we all play games...men with women and women with men.
